Epoxy Flooring in Lawton, OK

Our Home City, One Neighborhood at a Time

Lawton is where we are based, and epoxy flooring here is never one-size-fits-all. The city covers 75.1 square miles, and the ground under it changes from one side to the other. A garage near the Wichita Mountains sits on different rock than a garage on the south side or a shop near East Cache Creek. We size up each slab by where it sits, how old it is and how it is used, then pick the prep and coating to match.

What sits under the city

Wikipedia's geology notes for Lawton describe Permian limestone across the northern part of the city. The southern sections have Permian Garber sandstone with some Hennessey group shale. Creeks such as East Cache Creek carry Quaternary alluvium, which is loose, water-laid sediment. Granite of the Wichita Mountains rises to the northwest. Why does this matter for a floor? Slabs over shale and creek sediment tend to show more settling and more cracks than slabs on firmer ground. So on the south side and near the creeks, we check closely for hairline cracks, low corners and joints that have opened, and we budget more repair time before any coat goes down.

Three building waves, three kinds of garage

Lawton grew in bursts, and each burst left its own kind of concrete.

  • The war years. World War II pushed growth at Fort Sill, and the city's population went from 18,055 in 1940 to 34,757 in 1950. Homes from this era often have small detached garages or carports that were enclosed later. Those slabs are thin and patched, and many need resurfacing before a coating.
  • The 1960s push. By the 1960s the population had reached 61,697. In 1966 the city council annexed several square miles on the east, northeast, west and northwest edges, out to 82nd Street. A lot of the attached two-car garages in town date from this growth. They are good candidates for a flake broadcast system once old paint and oil are ground off.
  • Newer edges. Homes built since then on the outer edges have smoother, harder slabs. They need less repair, but the trowel-polished surface must be ground open or a coating will peel.

Storm season and the garage

Lawton sits in Tornado Alley, and severe weather runs from late April through early June. An F4 tornado in 1957 and an F3 in 1979 both hit the southern part of the city. Many families here use the garage as a staging area for storm prep, and some have a shelter set into the floor. If your garage has an in-floor shelter, we work around the lid and frame. We grind and coat right up to the opening and keep the lid's seal and hinges clean so it still opens freely. Tell us about the shelter when you book so we can plan the edge work.

Plants, parks and shop floors

The city's economy is more than the Army post. Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company is the largest private employer, with 2,400 full-time workers. Bar S Foods, Comanche County Memorial Hospital and Cameron University are major employers too. Lawton has two industrial parks, one in the southwest part of the city and one near the Lawton-Fort Sill Regional Airport. In May 2025, Firehawk Aerospace announced a $22 million rocket fuel plant in the west industrial park, with 100 jobs. Growth like that brings more warehouses, service bays and small shops, and those floors need more than a garage coating. For them we use thicker 100% solids epoxy, chemical-resistant topcoats and texture where people walk with wet boots.

Rentals that turn over

The 2020 census counted 39,894 housing units in Lawton. Of the occupied ones, 54.7% were rented. The rental vacancy rate was 15.9%, which means plenty of units sit empty between tenants at any given time. That empty window is the easiest time to coat a garage. Nothing has to be moved out, and the floor can cure fully before the next family arrives. Property owners often pick a mid-tone flake for these jobs because it hides tire marks and red dirt between deep cleans.

Which service fits which Lawton floor

  • Garage Floor Coating: our most common job in the city's 1960s and 1970s neighborhoods.
  • Epoxy Flake Floors: for rentals, busy family garages and anyone who wants grip and easy cleaning.
  • Polyaspartic Floor Coating: for west-facing garages and quick turnarounds, since it cures fast and holds color in the sun.
  • Patio & Pool Deck Coatings: for backyard slabs in full sun.
  • Commercial & Shop Floor Epoxy: for industrial park tenants, auto shops and small warehouses.
  • Concrete Crack & Floor Repair: for south-side and creek-area slabs that have moved.

Weather windows we plan around

Lawton gets about 31.6 inches of rain a year and less than 3 inches of snow. Winters are mild, with about eight days a year that stay below freezing. That gives us a long working season. Spring storms and summer heat are the two things that shift a schedule. In summer we start at first light. In spring we watch the forecast and move a coat rather than risk rain or blowing dust on a fresh floor.

Lawton Questions

My south Lawton garage floor has a long crack. Can it still be coated?

Usually, yes. We open and fill the crack, check whether it is still moving and treat moving joints so the coating can flex. If one side of the crack has dropped a lot, we will tell you it needs leveling first.

Can you coat around a storm shelter in my garage floor?

Yes. We grind and coat up to the shelter frame and keep the lid edges clean so it still opens. Let us know about the shelter when you call so we can plan the edge work and cure time.

Do you coat floors for businesses in Lawton's industrial parks?

Yes. We install thicker 100% solids epoxy for warehouses, bays and work areas, and we can schedule around your hours. Call [PHONE] to set up a walk-through.
